First thing you are going to have to do is to make sure that you have outlets where you need them and wires somewhere where you will be able to access them for the panel box. Once you have done that you are going to need to take a count of the doors and windows in your home and determine if you are going to alarm each and every door and window or just certain ones and if you are going to put in any glass break alarm sensors or any motion detectors. Once you have that entirely figured out you will be able to go shopping.
A very good do it yourself alarm system should run you about $200. If you want cctv security cameras, that could end up costing you much more. You might have to spend a few more dollars on some wire and a few other random things, but that should be able to alarm a rather typical home. When you do purchase an alarm system, do yourself a favor and check a few things. Make sure there is no fee for false alarms or that they allow you to have a certain number of them. You do not want to be charged unnecessary fees for accidentally setting of the alarm.
